Dental veneers are thin shells of material that are adhered to the front of individual teeth to cover a wide variety of cosmetic imperfections. While there are a few different materials that have been used to craft veneers, we use porcelain veneers at New Health Dental to bring our patients to their best smiles.

Porcelain is the perfect material from which to fabricate dental veneers because it so closely resembles the characteristics of natural teeth. Porcelain can be made to match the color of natural teeth perfectly when only one or two teeth are being covered, or can be crafted to the patient's perfect shade of white when all teeth are to be treated. This strong material is also highly stain resistant.

Dental veneers can dramatically change the smile, even if only one tooth is treated. Using this cosmetic treatment, our patients may rid the smile of imperfections like:

• Uneven teeth, where one or more looks longer or shorter than others
• Turned teeth
• Discoloration
• Teeth that are worn down

Receiving porcelain veneers is quite easy, with completion within two visits. Dr. Fritz takes a mold of the patient's teeth, which serves as a guide in the dental laboratory. Depending on the type of porcelain veneers being used, the patient's teeth may then be prepared through the removal of a small amount of surface enamel. Within about ten days, customized porcelain veneers can be assessed and adhered to the front of teeth using a strong bonding agent activated through the application of specialized light.

In some instances, porcelain veneers can be made quite thin, eliminating the need for enamel removal. In such cases, the teeth are merely etched gently to create a better surface for bonding.
